SERMON QUESTIONS:

1. This letter is written to the church at Thyatira, i.e. to the believers that make up the Church. Reflect on your own life as a believer. List as many positives as you can (v19). Give thanks to God for His blessings. Is there anything negative that you are vulnerable to but you tolerate in your own life (apply v20 as ‘sin in general’)? Now, extend your reflection to churches - is there anything you see in churches that you have come to tolerate?

2. We see in v20-23 that our Lord is the God of grace and judgement. Do you sometimes take grace for granted? Do you rationalise your thoughts, behaviour and/or actions? Does judgement instil fear in you or do you see it as fairness? Think deeper about what grace really is and how grace and judgement can co-exist.

3. What personal steps must you take in the light of the Jesus’ exhortation and promise in v24-29? What other practical steps could you take?
