Message from Rev. Daniel Gan

Rev Daniel Gan

4 January 2024

Dear Beloved Moriah family,

Grace and peace to you. With great joy and a deep sense of reverence, I undertake this sacred responsibility of shepherding Moriah B-P Church from 2024.

First and foremost, I wish to express my deepest appreciation for the faithful service of Rev. Robert Chew in teaching, preaching and leading Moriah over the past few decades. The foundation he has laid is a testament to his unwavering commitment.

As I step into this role, I am acutely aware of the intricate tapestry of Moriah’s history, woven with threads of both brokenness and faith. While traversing the wilderness, the assurance remains that with Christ as our Rock, we will discover sweetness at journey's end.

Our trajectory is outlined by the theme of “Abide in Christ”, “Abide To-Gather” and “Abide to Engage”. Do allow me to unveil the vision for each phase.

1. Abide in Christ:

Together, let us abide in Christ through corporate worship and the faithful preaching of His Word. On an individual level, let our abiding be manifest through diligent study and daily meditation on His Word. May the transformative power of His Word guide our collective and personal journeys.

2. Abide To-Gather:

In the spirit of fellowship, let’s us dwell into the richness of His Word through our Sunday Bible Classes, and immerse ourselves in each other’s lives through our Home Care Groups. Our fellowship, rooted in Christ’s love, is the crucible that will forge stronger bonds within our community.

3. Abide to Engage

Building on the preceding phases, we will abide in Christ as we engage in mission. Together, let us be the hands and feet of Christ, impacting our community and extending our reach beyond our shores.

Let us be reminded of Jesus’ words in John 15:5,

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Our purpose, strength and vitality come from our abiding connection to the vine, Jesus Christ.

Despite our differences, I urge each one of you to embark on this wilderness journey with open hearts, ready to grow in sweetness, grace, love and service. I am here to walk beside each of you to listen, to learn and to lead, as we collectively follow Christ.

May His grace continue to abound, and may our fellowship be a testimony to His transformative power. Together, let us seek the honey in the rock and be so transformed.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Daniel Gan
