Reflection on Philippians 4:6
18 January 2016
“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God.”
For many of us, there would not be a single day that passes by that we do not worry about big and even those little, unimportant things. So much so that if we do not worry, we would think it's almost inhuman. Worry is so prevalent in a lot of our lives that we would be surprised to hear that worry is sin.
In fact, Jesus tells us in the Sermon on the Mount that those who worry have little faith. (Matthew 6:30).
When we connect this to what Apostle Paul instructs us in Philippians 4:6, we come to understand that a strong belief that God can do all things is what is required and therefore, we can be delivered from our anxieties by coming to God humbly, thanking Him for all good things and His grace and mercy in our lives and asking Him till we receive, seeking Him till we find and knocking at His door till it's opened.
We will then experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can imagine and His peace will guard our hearts and minds as we live in Christ Jesus.
