The Music Ministry plays a highly important part at Moriah BP Church’s worship services. Each week, hymns and sacred songs are carefully selected for their appropriateness, theological soundness and musical beauty so as to enhance the worship service. Congregational singing is led by worship song-leaders and all are encouraged to participate enthusiastically in singing throughout the service.
The Moriah Choir is an extension of the music ministry. Its 35 members, ranging from older youth to working and non-working adults, hold practices on Thursday evenings from 8:15-9:30pm. Members are not required to have any musical background and are instructed step by step in the way of chorale and a capella singing. The Choir presents special music once a month at service and on all special occasions of the Christian calendar. Musical events staged in the past have included musicals and sacred music concerts.
The Moriah Bell Ringers Choir is a children’s instrumental choir where children from ages 6-12, presently totaling 30 children, from the Sunday School program are encouraged to participate. The children are taught to offer their talents to God and to glorify Him with this unique and simple brand of music. Led by an experienced bell ringer, they are taught special listening, rhythmic and hand co-ordinating skills in order to produce and perform delightful sacred music at special events of the year. Musical background is not a pre-requisite.
