Moriah Childcare and Development Centre (MCCDC) is a distinct centre with a homely environment. Occupying a spacious expanse of almost 9,000 sq. ft., it was opened by the Moriah Bible-Presbyterian church in 1998.
MCCDC operates both an infant care and a child care. Our centre caters to children from 2 months to 7 years of age. The student:teacher is low at 5:1 for Playgroup, 10:1 for Nursery and 15:1 for Kindergarten. Academic curriculum is current and relevant, to help a child to be ready for Primary One. Emphasis is placed on independence and school readiness, especially in the kindergarten years.

Our philosophy:
- Respect every child as an individual.
- A child’s family is the most important institution.
- A child learns what he/she lives.
Our objectives:
- To meet the developmental needs of children through a quality program.
- To provide professional care, education, fun and friendship in a loving, safe and healthy environment for children.
- To nurture positive values and dispositions through good role-modeling, rules, instruction and guidance.
- To encourage parental involvement in our activities.
- To facilitate and encourage consistent and open communication between parent and caregiver.
Co-operation between the centre and the parents begins by being mutually well-informed of the child’s critical affairs and events through each day.
The dispositions children adopt during their early years will highly influence their acquisition of characteristics such as love, integrity, moral values, behavioral attitudes and social skills.
Caregivers can actively and positively influence these dispositions through role-modeling, positive reinforcements, guidance, and direction in experiential-learning, games and activities. Our caregivers are committed to the total development – intellectual, socio-emotional and physical – of every child. Program and classes are conducted by teachers who are trained, experienced and accredited by the Ministry of Community Development Youth and Sports.
Teacher: children ratios are small, to ensure quality care and teaching for each child. Academic curriculum is current and relevant, to help a child be ready for Primary One. Emphasis is placed on independence and school readiness, especially in the kindergarten years.
